The JDW staff has three objectives in teaching their students:

• Making classes FUN for the students,
• Ensuring students learn social skills that will have a positive impact on their future, and
• Continually looking for ways to improve the program and teaching methods.

Each JDW cotillion director is accomplished in dance and social education. All directors teach at the elementary and middle school levels, and also instruct social education at the high school, university, business and corporate levels. The JDW record of excellence is reflected by the results of the 'Cotillion Report Cards' which are given to every student and their parent who has participated in the cotillion experience.

Report Cards from the most recent season (2009-2010) reflect that:

• 96% of students believe that the JDW Cotillion has helped prepare them for their future.
• 95% of our Cotillion students believe the program gave them more confidence in social and unfamiliar situations.
• 94% of students believe the JDW Cotillion helped them learn to treat others with more respect.
• 87% of JDW Cotillion students believe that dance has taught them more about cooperation and teamwork.
• 98% of students say Cotillion taught them how to make a positive first impression.
• Over 96% of students believe that Cotillion increased their awareness of manners and table etiquette.
• 80% of JDW Cotillion students wish to participate on an annual basis.
• 99% of parents believe Cotillion has helped their children gain a better understanding of manners and social etiquette.
• 99% of parents believe the skills learned in Cotillion will have a positive impact on their child’s future social relationships and career.
• 97% of parents say their children enjoyed the JDW Cotillion experience, and that they learned important social skills.
• 97% of parents believe Cotillion has strengthened their child’s confidence in social and unfamiliar situations.

Katherine has been a director with JDW Social Education Programs since 1994 and now holds the title of Vice President. Her education in international business from the University of Colorado, and her work as assistant to the Chief of Protocol for Governor Romer during the World Economic Summit of the Eight, have added an international perspective to the organization. Her experiences include travel to six continents and over 25 countries. Katherine also holds a marketing degree and heads up our public relations department and has made regular appearances on news broadcasts and KNUS - Success Radio, a local talk radio program.

As executive director of ESP Executive Social Presentation, Katherine has been speaking and instructing etiquette courses on a national basis since 1997. Recently, her projects include corporate seminars for Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Pikes Peak United Way, AAMSE (American Association of Medical Society Executives), BIG (Blacks in Government), Focus Ministries, Marriott Hotels, Wichita State University, and University of Colorado. She was privileged to be the keynote speaker for the Kappa Delta Leadership Conference, National Charity League, Junior Achievement and Leader’s Challenge.

Shelley’s career with JDW Social Education Programs began 18 years ago. She manages and instructs cotillion programs nationwide and, is one of the original program developers and presenters for ESP (Executive Social Presentation). Along with administrative projects, she is the leader for research and development.

Before moving to Denver, Shelley was born and raised in upstate New York. She attended Marietta College and graduated with a degree in psychology from the University of Southwestern Louisiana. She now enjoys spending time at her homes in Colorado and Texas.

Shelley has directed training seminars for Jackson National Life Insurance, Marriott, Atmos Energy, ING Re, SUNY College, Pikes Peak United Way, and Metropolitan State College.

Mother of three, her volunteer work has included Junior League of Denver, Rocky Mountain Adoption Exchange, Denver Center for the Performing Arts, Open Door and Fort Bend County Women’s Center. In addition, Shelley also instructed the required dining and social etiquette training for cadets at the United States Air Force Academy.

No stranger to the world of cotillion, Annabel began her training with JDWC in the 3rd grade at the Boulder Cotillion and worked as a student instructor for six years. She started her career with JDWC in 2005 after graduating Magna Cum Laude from Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in liberal studies with an emphasis in theatre arts and earned her teaching credentials through Pepperdine’s Seaver College Program.

While at Pepperdine, Annabel participated as an Inter-Club Council Representative and Choreographer for the Pepperdine Dance Company, Dance in Flight. She was awarded both the Sweepstakes and Producer’s Awards for the university production Songfest where she was recognized for outstanding choreography, direction, and overall presentation.

Annabel was acknowledged in Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities, is a Delta Gamma alumna, and a member of the Kappa Delta Pi Education Honors Society. Recent projects for JDWC include the design and implementation of the SEE -Survival Etiquette Essentials course for young adults.

Daniel Webb is the newest member of the JDWC team. He holds a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Daniel began his study of social education in Denver at the JDW Cherry Hills and Glenmoor Country Club cotillions. Daniel is a classically trained countertenor whose notable roles include the Spirit in the Meadows Opera Theatre production of Dido and Aeneas, Baker in Into the Woods, and Conrad Birdie in Bye Bye Birdie. Daniel brings his strong background in the arts to the JDWC team, exemplifying the importance of the arts in the study of social education.

While at SMU, Daniel was a judge on the Inter-Fraternity Council Judicial Board, a Resident Assistant, as well as officer of the Gamma Sigma chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. In 2008 Daniel was awarded the Dorothy Amann Award for his contribution to social justice at SMU.

Daniel remains active in the field of social justice with leadership roles in grass roots campaigns across the country. Daniel has been seen on Fox 31 television speaking on issues facing young people today as well as on ABC and in local publications for his community efforts in Dallas, Texas.
